Yamato AZ8400 Class
is the industry standard for high-speed tubular sewing operations. Engineered for precision and extreme productivity, this cylinder bed overlock machine features a remarkably slim 6-inch circumference bed, making it the ideal choice for small-diameter circular work such as attaching sleeves, hemming cuffs, and finishing necklines.
Built with Yamato’s legendary Japanese engineering, the AZ8400 combines a blistering 8,000 SPM (stitches per minute) capacity with a "Speed & Dry" technology framework that ensures clean, oil-free garments even at maximum velocity.
- Ultra-Slim Cylinder Bed: The 6-inch (151.5mm) circumference allows for effortless handling of small-diameter tubular items like children’s wear, cuffs, and sleeves.
- Super High-Speed Productivity: Capable of speeds up to 8,000 SPM, significantly reducing production cycle times without compromising stitch quality.
- Push-Button Stitch Adjustment: Change stitch length instantly by rotating the handwheel while pressing the integrated push-button.
- External Differential Feed Lever: Quickly adjust the differential feeding ratio via an easily accessible lever on the back of the machine to prevent puckering or stretching on varied fabrics.
- Versatile Sub-Model Options: Available in 1-needle (3-thread) or 2-needle (4-thread) configurations for general seaming or specialized blind hemming.
- Optional Cloth Plate: Can be fitted with a swing-out cloth plate to convert the cylinder bed into a flat surface for general seaming operations.

JUKI DDL-8700 FAQs
What kind of needles do you use in the DDL-8700?
The needles with your JUKI are the Organ DBx1, available on our website. This machine uses size 16×257, size 8 through 20 or 16×97. The 8700 can also use standard needles, sizes 9 through 21, universal or fabric-specific needles such as knit.
Where does the machine oil go?
A pan directly underneath the machine supplies oil to the machine with a cotton wick. Lift the machine up and over to access the oil tank while on the table. You must keep the machine’s oil level consistently at the «high» mark, either by adding more oil or draining it and refilling it as needed. If the oil pump can’t get the oil into the machine, it can cause serious problems later.
What kind of oil does this machine require?
You need a specific type, like motor oil in your car, to keep this machine running. The DDL-8700 requires JUKI New Defrix Oil No.1, equivalent to ISO VG7.
What size table can I get with this machine?
Our table has legs and is 22"w x 47"l. It includes a knee and foot pedals and a left-hand drawer for accessories.
Does the DDL 8700 make buttonholes?
No. The 8700 only does straight stitching, with a horizontal bar on the right side for a reverse stitch.
THE ADVANTAGES OF A SERVO MOTOR
Because of the Servo motor speed control, most users find the machine more straightforward to use. Both beginning and seasoned sewers find this feature helpful when stitching projects that don't demand high-speed stitching.
They use up to 90% less power than clutch motors
They are 1/3 lighter than clutch motors
With a flick of the switch, you can reverse motor rotation
No parts to wear out or adjust
No matter how hard you press the foot pedal, the configured speed remains the same.
