Yamata FY4400

is a professional-grade industrial sewing machine engineered for medium-to-heavyweight applications. It utilizes a Compound Feed (Unison Feed) mechanism—where the needle, feed dog, and presser foot move in synchronization—to provide unmatched feeding power. This system prevents material layers from shifting, ensuring perfect stitch alignment on "difficult" materials like slick vinyl, heavy canvas, and thick leather.

Designed as a high-value alternative to the Mitsubishi-style platforms (and similar to the Highlead GC20618), the FY4400 features a Large Vertical Hook and a double-capacity bobbin. This reduces downtime by allowing you to sew longer seams without frequent bobbin changes, making it the ideal workhorse for automotive upholstery, marine covers, and luggage manufacturing.

  • Compound Walking Foot (Triple Feed): The needle and walking foot move together with the feed dog to pull heavy materials through the machine without slippage.
  • Large "M" Style Bobbin: Features a vertical-axis large capacity hook that holds twice as much thread as a standard bobbin, essential for thick industrial threads.
  • Rectangular Feed Motion: Unlike traditional elliptical feeding, the rectangular locus keeps the feed dog in contact with the material longer, providing more consistent feeding across varying thicknesses.
  • Automatic Lubrication System: A centralized pump automatically oils all vital internal components, ensuring the machine stays cool and durable during high-speed operation.
  • High Presser Foot Clearance: With up to 16mm of lift (via knee lifter), you can easily accommodate thick foam-backed fabrics or multiple layers of heavy denim.
  • Energy-Efficient Servo Motor: The included 110V Servo Motor offers adjustable speed control, silent operation when idle, and high torque even at very low speeds for precision cornering.
  • Max Sewing Speed : 2,000 SPM (Stitches Per Minute)
  • Feeding Mechanism : Compound Feed (Walking Foot + Needle Feed)
  • Max Stitch Length : 9mm (Forward & Backward)
  • Needle System : 135 x 17 (DPx17) Size 18–24
  • Presser Foot Lift : 8mm (Hand) / 16mm (Knee)
  • Hook Type : Large Vertical-Axis Rotary Hook
  • Lubrication : Fully Automatic
  • Motor Type : 550W – 750W Electronic DC Servo Motor (110V)

The FY4400 is the industry standard for:

  • Automotive & Marine: Car seats, boat covers, interiors, and convertible tops.
  • Furniture Upholstery: Leather sofas, heavy cushions, and recliners.
  • Outdoor Gear: Sails, tents, awnings, and camping equipment.
  • Travel Goods: Heavy-duty luggage, handbags, and backpacks.
  • Technical Materials: Vinyl, laminated products, and coated fabrics.

JUKI DDL-8700 FAQs

What kind of needles do you use in the DDL-8700?

The needles with your JUKI are the Organ DBx1, available on our website. This machine uses size 16×257, size 8 through 20 or 16×97. The 8700 can also use standard needles, sizes 9 through 21, universal or fabric-specific needles such as knit.

Where does the machine oil go?

A pan directly underneath the machine supplies oil to the machine with a cotton wick. Lift the machine up and over to access the oil tank while on the table. You must keep the machine’s oil level consistently at the «high» mark, either by adding more oil or draining it and refilling it as needed. If the oil pump can’t get the oil into the machine, it can cause serious problems later.

What kind of oil does this machine require?

You need a specific type, like motor oil in your car, to keep this machine running. The DDL-8700 requires JUKI New Defrix Oil No.1, equivalent to ISO VG7.

What size table can I get with this machine?

Our table has legs and is 22"w x 47"l. It includes a knee and foot pedals and a left-hand drawer for accessories.

Does the DDL 8700 make buttonholes?

No. The 8700 only does straight stitching, with a horizontal bar on the right side for a reverse stitch.

THE ADVANTAGES OF A SERVO MOTOR

THE ADVANTAGES OF A SERVO MOTOR

Because of the Servo motor speed control, most users find the machine more straightforward to use. Both beginning and seasoned sewers find this feature helpful when stitching projects that don't demand high-speed stitching.
