SINGER® ONE™

is a tribute to heritage, featuring a signature vintage-inspired design and graphics that evoke the classic filigree of historic machines. Beneath its nostalgic exterior, however, lies a powerhouse of modern innovation. With an extra-large sewing space of nearly 15 inches, this machine provides the breathing room needed for large-scale projects like quilts and curtains. It is a user-friendly, high-performance machine that bridges the gap between classic style and computerized precision.

  • Quilting & Home Décor: The expansive work area and drop-feed capability make it ideal for free-motion quilting and large curtain panels.
  • Garment Construction: Effortlessly handle everything from delicate silks to 10 layers of denim using the automatic tension and powerful motor.
  • Fashion & Alterations: Utilize specialized stretch stitches for knits and the free arm for cuffs, collars, and hems.
  • Creative Crafting: Personalized embroidery-style designs and decorative topstitching for gifts and accessories.
  • SwiftSmart™ Threading System: Simply guide the thread from the spool to the needle through a single groove—threading the machine has never been faster.
  • Drop & Sew™ Bobbin System: No more manual bobbin thread pickup. Just drop in the bobbin, lead the thread through the guide, and start sewing immediately.
  • One-Touch Stitch Selection: Select from 24 popular built-in stitches (6 basic, 4 stretch, 12 decorative, and 2 buttonholes) with a single press; optimal length and width are automatically set.
  • Extra-Large Sewing Space: A massive 14.7" (374mm) workspace provides ample room for quilting, home décor, and other bulky projects.
  • 3 StayBright™ LED Lights: Three long-lasting LED lamps provide a shadow-free workspace that stays cool even during extended sewing sessions.
  • Heavy-Duty Metal Frame: An internal rigid support keeps the machine perfectly aligned for skip-free sewing and maximum durability.
  • Presser Foot Sensor: An audible alert ensures your presser foot is in the correct position before you start, preventing thread bunching.
  • Max Speed: 750 Stitches Per Minute (SPM)
  • Built-in Stitches: 24 Patterns (including 2 one-step automatic buttonholes)
  • Stitch Width: Max 7mm
  • Stitch Length: Max 5mm (with manual override options)
  • Needle Positions: 13 positions for precise topstitching and zipper placement
  • Needle System: 2020 (Standard) or 2045 (Ballpoint)
  • Bobbin Type: Class 15J Transparent
  • Presser Foot Lift: Extra-high lift for bulky fabric layers
  • Dimensions: 23” x 10” x 13” (Weight: 18.5 lbs)

JUKI DDL-8700 FAQs

What kind of needles do you use in the DDL-8700?

The needles with your JUKI are the Organ DBx1, available on our website. This machine uses size 16×257, size 8 through 20 or 16×97. The 8700 can also use standard needles, sizes 9 through 21, universal or fabric-specific needles such as knit.

Where does the machine oil go?

A pan directly underneath the machine supplies oil to the machine with a cotton wick. Lift the machine up and over to access the oil tank while on the table. You must keep the machine’s oil level consistently at the «high» mark, either by adding more oil or draining it and refilling it as needed. If the oil pump can’t get the oil into the machine, it can cause serious problems later.

What kind of oil does this machine require?

You need a specific type, like motor oil in your car, to keep this machine running. The DDL-8700 requires JUKI New Defrix Oil No.1, equivalent to ISO VG7.

What size table can I get with this machine?

Our table has legs and is 22"w x 47"l. It includes a knee and foot pedals and a left-hand drawer for accessories.

Does the DDL 8700 make buttonholes?

No. The 8700 only does straight stitching, with a horizontal bar on the right side for a reverse stitch.
