Seiko BBWP-8BL

is a premium high-speed post-bed machine engineered for the most demanding medium-to-heavy sewing applications. Combining a compound feed (needle feed) with a walking foot mechanism, it ensures zero material slippage when seaming thick leathers or synthetic laminates. Its large vertical axis hook offers 2.0x the bobbin capacity of standard machines, drastically reducing downtime in high-volume production. Whether you are crafting luxury handbags or technical outdoor gear, the BBWP series provides the stability and clearance needed for complex three-dimensional assembly.

  • Superior Compound Feed: Synchronized needle, feed dog, and walking foot movement ensures positive stitching on multiple plies and slippery materials.
  • Large 2.0x Capacity Hook: Equipped with a vertical axis hook that holds twice the thread of standard bobbins—perfect for thick industrial threads.
  • Extended Stitch Capability: Offers a generous stitch length of up to 9mm, adjustable for both forward and reverse stitching.
  • Safety Clutch Mechanism: Built-in safety device automatically disengages the drive if the thread jams, protecting the hook and internal timing from damage.
  • Wide Workspace & Clearance: Features a 300mm (approx. 12") working space and a 16mm presser foot lift, allowing for easy maneuvering of bulky 3D items.
  • Built-in Bobbin Winder: Top-mounted winder allows for simultaneous bobbin preparation during sewing operation.
  • Quiet & Efficient Servo Motor: The included 110V electronic servo motor provides silent, energy-efficient power with precise "stitch-by-stitch" control.
  • Max. Sewing Speed: 2,500 Stitches per Minute (SPM)
  • Max. Stitch Length: 9mm (Forward and Reverse)
  • Needle Bar Stroke: 34mm
  • Needle System: DPx17 (#18 – #25) / 135x17 (Nm110 – Nm200)
  • Thread Size: Up to #5 (Standard #8)
  • Hook Type: Large Vertical Axis Hook (2.0x Capacity)
  • Presser Foot Lift: 9mm (Hand) / 16mm (Knee/Auto)
  • Amount of Walking Foot Movement: 1mm – 7mm
  • Lubrication: Semi-Automatic
  • Working Space: 300mm x 300mm (12" x 12")

The BBWP-8BL is optimized for 3D and heavy-duty manufacturing:

  • Footwear: Closing seams on boots, athletic shoes, and heavy leather footwear.
  • Leather Goods: Handbags, luggage, travelware, and luxury accessories.
  • Automotive: Interior trim, headrests, and upholstered panels.
  • Outdoor Gear: Tents, tarpaulins, awnings, and heavy-duty sports equipment.

JUKI DDL-8700 FAQs

What kind of needles do you use in the DDL-8700?

The needles with your JUKI are the Organ DBx1, available on our website. This machine uses size 16×257, size 8 through 20 or 16×97. The 8700 can also use standard needles, sizes 9 through 21, universal or fabric-specific needles such as knit.

Where does the machine oil go?

A pan directly underneath the machine supplies oil to the machine with a cotton wick. Lift the machine up and over to access the oil tank while on the table. You must keep the machine’s oil level consistently at the «high» mark, either by adding more oil or draining it and refilling it as needed. If the oil pump can’t get the oil into the machine, it can cause serious problems later.

What kind of oil does this machine require?

You need a specific type, like motor oil in your car, to keep this machine running. The DDL-8700 requires JUKI New Defrix Oil No.1, equivalent to ISO VG7.

What size table can I get with this machine?

Our table has legs and is 22"w x 47"l. It includes a knee and foot pedals and a left-hand drawer for accessories.

Does the DDL 8700 make buttonholes?

No. The 8700 only does straight stitching, with a horizontal bar on the right side for a reverse stitch.

THE ADVANTAGES OF A SERVO MOTOR

THE ADVANTAGES OF A SERVO MOTOR

Because of the Servo motor speed control, most users find the machine more straightforward to use. Both beginning and seasoned sewers find this feature helpful when stitching projects that don't demand high-speed stitching.
