is a specialized electronic unit designed to drive the direct-drive servo motors of JUKI’s premium lockstitch systems. It transcends traditional control boxes by offering complete digitalization of sewing parameters—including feed locus, thread tension, and presser foot pressure. This unit is essential for manufacturers requiring IoT connectivity, data management through the JUKI Smart APP, and the ability to reproduce identical sewing settings across multiple machines for consistent quality.
Genuine JUKI Part: Part #40178542 ensures 100% compatibility and factory-grade performance for the DDL-9000C series.
Seamless Integration: Designed specifically for the high-speed, direct-drive motor system of JUKI digital lockstitch machines.
Reduced Thread Trailing: Digitally lowers the feed dog during thread trimming to achieve the shortest possible thread tail.
Advanced Protection: Built-in safeguards against voltage fluctuations, noise, and vibration for long-term industrial reliability.
Data Export: Easily transfer setup data and production metrics via USB or NFC to ensure "stable quality" across entire sewing lines.
Digital Feed Control: Enables the world's first vertically and horizontally driven digital feed mechanism, allowing for precise adjustment of feed dog height and motion directly from the panel.
IoT & Smart Connectivity: Equipped with NFC (Near Field Communication) and a USB port, allowing you to manage sewing data on an Android tablet via the JUKI Smart APP.
Active Tension System: Provides digital control of needle thread tension, allowing users to store and recall tension settings for specific fabrics, reducing setup time.
Multi-Layer Detection: Works with the machine's sensors to automatically adjust presser foot pressure and stitch length when transitioning between different material thicknesses.
Energy Efficiency: Optimized for direct-drive motors, reducing power consumption during standby and active sewing compared to older SC-series models.
User-Friendly Modes: Features both "Operator Mode" for daily ease of use and "Serviceperson Mode" for technical calibration and diagnostics.

JUKI DDL-8700 FAQs
What kind of needles do you use in the DDL-8700?
The needles with your JUKI are the Organ DBx1, available on our website. This machine uses size 16×257, size 8 through 20 or 16×97. The 8700 can also use standard needles, sizes 9 through 21, universal or fabric-specific needles such as knit.
Where does the machine oil go?
A pan directly underneath the machine supplies oil to the machine with a cotton wick. Lift the machine up and over to access the oil tank while on the table. You must keep the machine’s oil level consistently at the «high» mark, either by adding more oil or draining it and refilling it as needed. If the oil pump can’t get the oil into the machine, it can cause serious problems later.
What kind of oil does this machine require?
You need a specific type, like motor oil in your car, to keep this machine running. The DDL-8700 requires JUKI New Defrix Oil No.1, equivalent to ISO VG7.
What size table can I get with this machine?
Our table has legs and is 22"w x 47"l. It includes a knee and foot pedals and a left-hand drawer for accessories.
Does the DDL 8700 make buttonholes?
No. The 8700 only does straight stitching, with a horizontal bar on the right side for a reverse stitch.
