is a 2-needle, longitudinal feed double chainstitch machine designed for high-volume production of jeans, workwear, and sportswear. The"Z" designationindicatesits optimization for zipper attachment, featuring a specialized zipper guide and presser foot assembly. Equipped with a powerfulRear Power Puller (P)andElectronic Metering (PE), this machineeliminatesthe common issue of fabric "creeping" or puckering, ensuring that the zipper tape and garment material are fed in perfect synchronization.
Denim Manufacturing: Attaching zippers to the fly of jeans and denim jackets.
Workwear & Uniforms: Heavy-duty zipper installation on coveralls and utility trousers.
Sportswear: Precision zipper attachment on heavy-weight tracksuits and hoodies.
Bag & Luggage: Installing structural zippers on canvas bags and tactical gear.
Specialized Zipper Attachment (Z): Includes a dedicated zipper guide and narrow-profile presser foot designed to stitch close to the zipper teeth with absolute precision.
Integrated Rear Power Puller (P): A synchronized flat puller assists the feed dogs, providing the necessary traction to pull heavy denim or multi-layered fabrics through the machine without slippage.
Double Chainstitch (ISO 401): Produces two rows of high-strength, flexible stitches. Since it uses loopers instead of bobbins, it allows for continuous, uninterrupted sewing from large industrial thread cones.
Electronic Feeding Control (PE): Advanced tension and feeding mechanisms ensure that zipper tape—which often has different stretch properties than the garment—is applied perfectly flat.
Longitudinal Feed Mechanism: Unlike standard machines, the feed moves straight through the arm, providing maximum stability for the long, straight runs required in trouser fly and pocket zipper installation.
High-Speed Performance: Engineered to operate at speeds up to 4,000 SPM, significantly outperforming standard lockstitch machines in a production environment.
90 Days labor on defects in materials and workmanship.
** Head Only option does not include the table, legs, Servo Motor, and LED Lamp. No assembly or residential charges necessary.
DISCLAIMER: DUE TO THE WEIGHT AND SHIPPING METHODS USED FOR INDUSTRIAL MACHINES THEY MAY EXPERIENCE MARRING AND SCRATCHES DURING SHIPPING. THIS WILL NOT AFFECT THE OPERATION OF THE MACHINE.
JUKI DDL-8700 FAQs
What kind of needles do you use in the DDL-8700?
The needles with your JUKI are the Organ DBx1, available on our website. This machine uses size 16×257, size 8 through 20 or 16×97. The 8700 can also use standard needles, sizes 9 through 21, universal or fabric-specific needles such as knit.
Where does the machine oil go?
A pan directly underneath the machine supplies oil to the machine with a cotton wick. Lift the machine up and over to access the oil tank while on the table. You must keep the machine’s oil level consistently at the «high» mark, either by adding more oil or draining it and refilling it as needed. If the oil pump can’t get the oil into the machine, it can cause serious problems later.
What kind of oil does this machine require?
You need a specific type, like motor oil in your car, to keep this machine running. The DDL-8700 requires JUKI New Defrix Oil No.1, equivalent to ISO VG7.
What size table can I get with this machine?
Our table has legs and is 22"w x 47"l. It includes a knee and foot pedals and a left-hand drawer for accessories.
Does the DDL 8700 make buttonholes?
No. The 8700 only does straight stitching, with a horizontal bar on the right side for a reverse stitch.
