JUKI TNU-243U
is the definitive solution for sewing "extra-heavy-weight" materials. Featuring a Unison-Feed (Triple Feed) mechanism—where the needle, feed dog, and presser foot move in perfect synchronization—this machine ensures that thick or slippery layers advance evenly without shifting or puckering. Its Semi-Long Flat Bed design provides a larger workspace (420mm) than standard machines, making it ideal for maneuvering bulky items like cargo slings, safety harnesses, and heavy leather furniture.
- Unison-Feed (Triple Feed) Mechanism: The synchronized movement of the needle, feed dog, and walking foot provides incredible traction, allowing you to sew through multiple layers of heavy webbing or thick leather with absolute precision.
- Semi-Long Bed Workspace: With a 420mm (approx. 16.5") horizontal clearance, this machine offers significantly more room than standard flatbed machines for handling oversized projects.
- Extra-Large Shuttle Hook: Equipped with a large-capacity shuttle hook that accommodates thick industrial threads (up to #0) and reduces the frequency of bobbin changes.
- Extreme Presser Foot Lift: A massive 20mm presser foot lift (via knee lifter) allows for the effortless insertion and removal of extra-thick assemblies like foam-backed upholstery or heavy lifting straps.
- High-Climbing Walking Foot: The walking foot’s vertical stroke is adjustable, allowing it to "climb" over thick cross-seams and varying material heights without losing stitch consistency.
- Stitch Length up to 15mm: Capable of producing exceptionally long stitches, essential for the structural integrity of heavy-duty industrial products.

JUKI DDL-8700 FAQs
What kind of needles do you use in the DDL-8700?
The needles with your JUKI are the Organ DBx1, available on our website. This machine uses size 16×257, size 8 through 20 or 16×97. The 8700 can also use standard needles, sizes 9 through 21, universal or fabric-specific needles such as knit.
Where does the machine oil go?
A pan directly underneath the machine supplies oil to the machine with a cotton wick. Lift the machine up and over to access the oil tank while on the table. You must keep the machine’s oil level consistently at the «high» mark, either by adding more oil or draining it and refilling it as needed. If the oil pump can’t get the oil into the machine, it can cause serious problems later.
What kind of oil does this machine require?
You need a specific type, like motor oil in your car, to keep this machine running. The DDL-8700 requires JUKI New Defrix Oil No.1, equivalent to ISO VG7.
What size table can I get with this machine?
Our table has legs and is 22"w x 47"l. It includes a knee and foot pedals and a left-hand drawer for accessories.
Does the DDL 8700 make buttonholes?
No. The 8700 only does straight stitching, with a horizontal bar on the right side for a reverse stitch.
THE ADVANTAGES OF A SERVO MOTOR
Because of the Servo motor speed control, most users find the machine more straightforward to use. Both beginning and seasoned sewers find this feature helpful when stitching projects that don't demand high-speed stitching.
