Juki MO-6814S

is the definitive industrial 4-thread overlock machine, engineered for high-speed seaming and edge finishing. Unlike 3-thread models, the 4-thread configuration utilizes two needles to create a "mock-safety" stitch, providing the extra seam strength and elasticity required for knit and stretch garments. Part of Juki's legendary MO-6800S series, this machine is capable of speeds up to 7,000 SPM, offering unmatched durability and stitch consistency for professional manufacturing environments.

  • 4-Thread Mock-Safety Stitch: Features a two-needle design that sews a secure seam and finishes the edge simultaneously, ideal for joining knit fabrics.
  • Ultra-High Speed Performance: Reaches up to 7,000 stitches per minute, significantly reducing production time in high-volume settings.
  • Versatile Material Handling: Easily handles everything from ultra-lightweight silks to medium-heavy knits with consistent stitch quality.
  • Advanced Differential Feed: A precise micro-adjustment lever allows you to dial in the perfect feed ratio to eliminate puckering on thin wovens or waving on high-stretch spandex.
  • Quiet-Run Servo Motor: The included 110V electronic servo motor provides silent operation, 70% energy savings, and total speed control via a digital interface.
  • Needle Bar Heat Protection: The needle bar area is designed to stay cool during extended high-speed runs, preventing thread breakage and fabric damage.
  • Automatic Lubrication: A closed-circuit, forced-feed oiling system with a replaceable filter ensures the machine remains protected during 24/7 operation.
  • Stitch Type: 2-Needle / 4-Thread Overlock (514)
  • Max. Sewing Speed: 7,000 Stitches per Minute (SPM)
  • Needle Gauge: 2.0mm
  • Overedging Width: 4.0mm
  • Stitch Length: 0.6mm – 3.8mm
  • Differential Feed Ratio: 1:0.7 – 1:2.0
  • Needle System: DCx27 (B-27) #9 to #14
  • Presser Foot Lift: 6.5mm
  • Motor Type: 550W High-Torque Servo Motor (110V)
  • Lubrication: Fully Automatic

The MO-6814S is the industry standard for constructing stretch-based apparel:

  • Knitwear Construction: Seaming and finishing T-shirts, polo shirts, and jersey dresses.
  • Sportswear & Activewear: Durable, flexible seams for leggings, yoga wear, and gym apparel.
  • Loungewear: Constructing hoodies, sweatshirts, and pajamas.
  • General Seaming: Joining woven fabric panels where a flexible, reinforced edge is required.

JUKI DDL-8700 FAQs

What kind of needles do you use in the DDL-8700?

The needles with your JUKI are the Organ DBx1, available on our website. This machine uses size 16×257, size 8 through 20 or 16×97. The 8700 can also use standard needles, sizes 9 through 21, universal or fabric-specific needles such as knit.

Where does the machine oil go?

A pan directly underneath the machine supplies oil to the machine with a cotton wick. Lift the machine up and over to access the oil tank while on the table. You must keep the machine’s oil level consistently at the «high» mark, either by adding more oil or draining it and refilling it as needed. If the oil pump can’t get the oil into the machine, it can cause serious problems later.

What kind of oil does this machine require?

You need a specific type, like motor oil in your car, to keep this machine running. The DDL-8700 requires JUKI New Defrix Oil No.1, equivalent to ISO VG7.

What size table can I get with this machine?

Our table has legs and is 22"w x 47"l. It includes a knee and foot pedals and a left-hand drawer for accessories.

Does the DDL 8700 make buttonholes?

No. The 8700 only does straight stitching, with a horizontal bar on the right side for a reverse stitch.

THE ADVANTAGES OF A SERVO MOTOR

THE ADVANTAGES OF A SERVO MOTOR

Because of the Servo motor speed control, most users find the machine more straightforward to use. Both beginning and seasoned sewers find this feature helpful when stitching projects that don't demand high-speed stitching.
