is a high-performance cylinder-bedcoverstitchmachine designed for finishing tubular garments like necklines, cuffs, and hemlines. Featuring a high-speed direct-drive system, it delivers superior seam quality with 27% less energy consumption than belt-driven models. This universal system handles a wide range of knitwear and activewear, providing the elasticity and precisionrequiredfor professional garment construction.
Knitwear: Hemming T-shirt sleeves, bottom hems, and polo shirt cuffs.
Sportswear: High-stretch covering and joining for athletic leggings and jerseys.
Underwear: Delicate seam finishing using the micro-lifter for foundations.
Fleece/Heavy Knits: Adjustable needle bar stroke handles thick materials with ease.
Direct-Drive Technology: The integrated motor improves responsiveness, ensures precise needle stopping, and eliminates belt shavings for a cleaner workspace.
Versatile Feed Mechanism: Externally adjustable feed locus allows for fine-tuning based on fabric weight to prevent puckering or uneven stitches.
Cylinder-Bed Design: Optimized for easy handling of sleeves, necklines, and other small-diameter tubular items.
Micro-Lifter Mechanism: Specifically designed for elastic and delicate materials; allows sewing with the presser foot slightly raised to prevent fabric slippage.

JUKI DDL-8700 FAQs
What kind of needles do you use in the DDL-8700?
The needles with your JUKI are the Organ DBx1, available on our website. This machine uses size 16×257, size 8 through 20 or 16×97. The 8700 can also use standard needles, sizes 9 through 21, universal or fabric-specific needles such as knit.
Where does the machine oil go?
A pan directly underneath the machine supplies oil to the machine with a cotton wick. Lift the machine up and over to access the oil tank while on the table. You must keep the machine’s oil level consistently at the «high» mark, either by adding more oil or draining it and refilling it as needed. If the oil pump can’t get the oil into the machine, it can cause serious problems later.
What kind of oil does this machine require?
You need a specific type, like motor oil in your car, to keep this machine running. The DDL-8700 requires JUKI New Defrix Oil No.1, equivalent to ISO VG7.
What size table can I get with this machine?
Our table has legs and is 22"w x 47"l. It includes a knee and foot pedals and a left-hand drawer for accessories.
Does the DDL 8700 make buttonholes?
No. The 8700 only does straight stitching, with a horizontal bar on the right side for a reverse stitch.
