Juki MB-1373

is a specialized industrial machine designed for the high-speed attachment of flat buttons. Utilizing a single-thread chainstitch, it removes the need for a bobbin, allowing for continuous, uninterrupted production. Engineered with Juki’s unique thread-fraying prevention mechanism, this machine ensures that buttons remain securely attached even after heavy wear and laundering. It is the premier choice for shirts, blouses, and light-to-medium workwear.

The MB-1373 is preferred by factories worldwide because it solves the "loose button" problem common in low-end manufacturing. Its mechanical simplicity makes it incredibly durable, and the ability to switch between stitch patterns in seconds without changing parts makes it an exceptionally versatile tool for any production line.

  • Single-Thread Chainstitch (Type 101): Efficiently attaches buttons without a bobbin, streamlining the sewing process and reducing thread waste.
  • Thread-Fraying Prevention: Features a specialized stitch-knotting mechanism at the final stitch to ensure the button remains secure.
  • Adjustable Stitch Patterns: Easily switch between 2-hole, 4-hole, and shank buttons using a simple lever; stitch shapes can be changed between "X" and "parallel" configurations.
  • High-Speed Productivity: Capable of sewing at 1,500 SPM, significantly reducing the time required per garment.
  • Vibration-Free Operation: The machine head is designed for smooth, quiet performance, reducing operator fatigue during long shifts.
  • Energy-Efficient Servo Motor: Includes a 110V digital Servo motor for pinpoint control and 90% energy savings over traditional clutch motors.
  • Stitch Type: Single-Thread, Elastic Chainstitch
  • Max Sewing Speed: 1,500 Stitches Per Minute (SPM)
  • Number of Stitches: 8, 16, or 32 stitches (selectable)
  • Button Size Compatibility: 10 mm to 28 mm (diameter)
  • Button Thickness: Max 3.5 mm

JUKI DDL-8700 FAQs

What kind of needles do you use in the DDL-8700?

The needles with your JUKI are the Organ DBx1, available on our website. This machine uses size 16×257, size 8 through 20 or 16×97. The 8700 can also use standard needles, sizes 9 through 21, universal or fabric-specific needles such as knit.

Where does the machine oil go?

A pan directly underneath the machine supplies oil to the machine with a cotton wick. Lift the machine up and over to access the oil tank while on the table. You must keep the machine’s oil level consistently at the «high» mark, either by adding more oil or draining it and refilling it as needed. If the oil pump can’t get the oil into the machine, it can cause serious problems later.

What kind of oil does this machine require?

You need a specific type, like motor oil in your car, to keep this machine running. The DDL-8700 requires JUKI New Defrix Oil No.1, equivalent to ISO VG7.

What size table can I get with this machine?

Our table has legs and is 22"w x 47"l. It includes a knee and foot pedals and a left-hand drawer for accessories.

Does the DDL 8700 make buttonholes?

No. The 8700 only does straight stitching, with a horizontal bar on the right side for a reverse stitch.

THE ADVANTAGES OF A SERVO MOTOR

THE ADVANTAGES OF A SERVO MOTOR

Because of the Servo motor speed control, most users find the machine more straightforward to use. Both beginning and seasoned sewers find this feature helpful when stitching projects that don't demand high-speed stitching.
