THREAD TENSION CONTROLA thread tension control mechanism has been developed for each type of sewing machine in order to achieve the best-suited thread tension for its purpose.
MATERIAL-FRIENDLY MICRO-LIFTER MECHANISMThe presser foot can be lifted by a minute amount by adjusting the eccentric pin located in the presser lifter lever section. When sewing shaggy and elastic fabrics, the load applied to the material is reduced by slightly lifting the presser foot. Materials are handled more easily and are finished without sacrificing the inherent texture of the material.
BOBBIN COUNTER FUNCTIONThe operator is notified that the bobbin needs to be replaced before the bobbin thread runs out. Since the operator is notified of the time to replace the bobbin, the operator is no longer required to carry out the re-sewing of seams sewn without bobbin thread, thereby increasing working efficiency. In addition, the operator carries out his/her work under a stress-free environment without worrying about needle-hole damage to the material, which is likely to be made when sewing without bobbin thread

JUKI DDL-8700 FAQs
What kind of needles do you use in the DDL-8700?
The needles with your JUKI are the Organ DBx1, available on our website. This machine uses size 16×257, size 8 through 20 or 16×97. The 8700 can also use standard needles, sizes 9 through 21, universal or fabric-specific needles such as knit.
Where does the machine oil go?
A pan directly underneath the machine supplies oil to the machine with a cotton wick. Lift the machine up and over to access the oil tank while on the table. You must keep the machine’s oil level consistently at the «high» mark, either by adding more oil or draining it and refilling it as needed. If the oil pump can’t get the oil into the machine, it can cause serious problems later.
What kind of oil does this machine require?
You need a specific type, like motor oil in your car, to keep this machine running. The DDL-8700 requires JUKI New Defrix Oil No.1, equivalent to ISO VG7.
What size table can I get with this machine?
Our table has legs and is 22"w x 47"l. It includes a knee and foot pedals and a left-hand drawer for accessories.
Does the DDL 8700 make buttonholes?
No. The 8700 only does straight stitching, with a horizontal bar on the right side for a reverse stitch.
THE ADVANTAGES OF A SERVO MOTOR
Because of the Servo motor speed control, most users find the machine more straightforward to use. Both beginning and seasoned sewers find this feature helpful when stitching projects that don't demand high-speed stitching.
They use up to 90% less power than clutch motors
They are 1/3 lighter than clutch motors
With a flick of the switch, you can reverse motor rotation
No parts to wear out or adjust
No matter how hard you press the foot pedal, the configured speed remains the same.
