Consew CP146RL

is a versatile, portable industrial machine designed for heavy-duty tasks that require both strength and mobility. Unlike standard portable machines, the CP146RL features a Top-Feed Walking Foot mechanism, making it the perfect tool for sewing thick materials like sailcloth, leather, vinyl, and upholstery without material slippage.

With the ability to switch between a straight stitch and a wide zig-zag, this machine is a favorite for marine repairs, upholstery touch-ups, and small-scale leather crafting. Its compact, all-metal construction ensures industrial-grade durability in a footprint that fits on any sturdy tabletop.

The CP146RL is the ultimate "on-the-go" machine for:

    • Marine & Sail Repair: Patching sails, repairing boat covers, and sewing bimini tops.
    • Upholstery & Vinyl: On-site repairs for car interiors, RV cushions, and furniture.
    • Leather Crafting: Belts, wallets, and medium-weight leather bags.
    • Outdoor Gear: Repairing tents, backpacks, and heavy-duty canvas tarps.
    • Dual Stitch Capability: Easily switch between a classic straight stitch and a wide zig-zag stitch (up to 5mm) for reinforcement or decorative work.
    • Top-Feed Walking Foot: Prevents the shifting of fabric layers by pulling the material from both the top and bottom simultaneously—essential for leather and canvas.
    • All-Metal Construction: Built with heavy-duty metal internal components for long-lasting industrial use.
    • Portable & Compact: Includes a durable carrying case and a built-in 110V motor, allowing you to bring industrial sewing power to the job site, boat, or RV.
    • Extra-Long Bed: The "RL" version provides a longer bed compared to standard portable models, offering more stability for larger projects.
    • Built-in Speed Control: The electronic foot controller allows for smooth, incremental speed adjustments, perfect for intricate cornering.
    • Reverse Feed: Features a dedicated lever for back-tacking and securing your seams.

    JUKI DDL-8700 FAQs

What kind of needles do you use in the DDL-8700?

The needles with your JUKI are the Organ DBx1, available on our website. This machine uses size 16×257, size 8 through 20 or 16×97. The 8700 can also use standard needles, sizes 9 through 21, universal or fabric-specific needles such as knit.

Where does the machine oil go?

A pan directly underneath the machine supplies oil to the machine with a cotton wick. Lift the machine up and over to access the oil tank while on the table. You must keep the machine’s oil level consistently at the «high» mark, either by adding more oil or draining it and refilling it as needed. If the oil pump can’t get the oil into the machine, it can cause serious problems later.

What kind of oil does this machine require?

You need a specific type, like motor oil in your car, to keep this machine running. The DDL-8700 requires JUKI New Defrix Oil No.1, equivalent to ISO VG7.

What size table can I get with this machine?

Our table has legs and is 22"w x 47"l. It includes a knee and foot pedals and a left-hand drawer for accessories.

Does the DDL 8700 make buttonholes?

No. The 8700 only does straight stitching, with a horizontal bar on the right side for a reverse stitch.
