Consew 289RB-HLP-2

is a specialized, single-needle lockstitch machine engineered for the most challenging three-dimensional sewing tasks. Featuring an extra-high 17-7/16" (443mm) vertical post bed, this machine provides maximum clearance for maneuvering tall, hollow, or uniquely shaped items that standard post bed machines cannot reach.

Equipped with a Triple Feed (Compound Feed) system—combining drop feed, needle feed, and an alternating walking foot—it ensures perfectly synchronized feeding of heavy leathers and multi-layered fabrics without ply-shifting or material slippage.

  • Extra-High 17.5" Post: Provides unparalleled workspace for sewing tall boots, large handbags, automotive headrests, and deep-shaped luggage.
  • Triple Feed (Compound Feed): Synchronized needle, feed dog, and walking foot mechanism eliminates material slippage on heavy-duty substrates.
  • Large Vertical Axis Hook: Accommodates high-capacity bobbins to reduce downtime when using thick industrial threads.
  • Safety Clutch: Integrated mechanism protects the rotary hook from damage by automatically disengaging during a thread jam.
  • High Presser Foot Lift: 5/8" (16mm) clearance allows for easy insertion and removal of thick, bulky materials.
  • Energy-Efficient Servo Motor: Provides 90% power savings over traditional clutch motors with fully adjustable speed control.
  • Centra-Lube® System: Semi-automatic lubrication ensures smooth, high-speed performance and extended machine life.
  • Max Speed: 2,200 SPM (Stitches Per Minute)
  • Stitch Length: Max 4.5 s.p.i. (5.5mm)
  • Post Height: 17-7/16" (443mm)
  • Clearance Under Foot: 5/16" (8mm) by hand; 5/8" (16mm) by foot
  • Needle System: 135 x 17
  • Needle Bar Stroke: 1-13/32" (35.3mm)
  • Work Space: 10" (254mm)
  • Bed Size: 7" x 20-3/8" (178mm x 518mm)
  • Stitch Type: 301 Lockstitch
  • Specialized Footwear: Extra-tall riding boots, work boots, and orthopedic shoes.
  • Bags & Travelware: Large suitcases, travel bags, golf bags, and high-capacity handbags.

JUKI DDL-8700 FAQs

What kind of needles do you use in the DDL-8700?

The needles with your JUKI are the Organ DBx1, available on our website. This machine uses size 16×257, size 8 through 20 or 16×97. The 8700 can also use standard needles, sizes 9 through 21, universal or fabric-specific needles such as knit.

Where does the machine oil go?

A pan directly underneath the machine supplies oil to the machine with a cotton wick. Lift the machine up and over to access the oil tank while on the table. You must keep the machine’s oil level consistently at the «high» mark, either by adding more oil or draining it and refilling it as needed. If the oil pump can’t get the oil into the machine, it can cause serious problems later.

What kind of oil does this machine require?

You need a specific type, like motor oil in your car, to keep this machine running. The DDL-8700 requires JUKI New Defrix Oil No.1, equivalent to ISO VG7.

What size table can I get with this machine?

Our table has legs and is 22"w x 47"l. It includes a knee and foot pedals and a left-hand drawer for accessories.

Does the DDL 8700 make buttonholes?

No. The 8700 only does straight stitching, with a horizontal bar on the right side for a reverse stitch.

THE ADVANTAGES OF A SERVO MOTOR

THE ADVANTAGES OF A SERVO MOTOR

Because of the Servo motor speed control, most users find the machine more straightforward to use. Both beginning and seasoned sewers find this feature helpful when stitching projects that don't demand high-speed stitching.
