Consew 287RB-2

is a high-performance industrial lockstitch machine designed for the most demanding curved and tubular sewing tasks. It features a powerful Triple Feed (Compound Feed) system—combining needle feed, drop feed, and walking foot—to ensure that multiple layers of heavy materials like leather, vinyl, and canvas are fed perfectly without shifting. Its cylinder arm design is essential for sewing bags, sleeves, and upholstery panels that require a high degree of maneuverability.

Why Choose the 287RB-2?

While the 287 series is often compared to flatbed machines, the cylinder arm provides a level of versatility that is mandatory for 3D sewing projects. By combining this reach with the raw power of a walking foot and the precision of an electronic Servo Motor, the 287RB-2 allows you to tackle professional-grade projects with factory-quality results.

  • Triple Feed (Compound Feed) Mechanism: The synchronized movement of the needle, feed dog, and walking foot ensures consistent feeding on thick or "sticky" materials like leather.
  • Cylinder Arm Design: The 2 9/16" (65mm) diameter arm allows you to easily sew inside tubes, sleeves, and circular items that a flatbed machine cannot reach.
  • Large Vertical Axis Hook: Features a large-capacity hook and bobbin system, allowing you to use thicker industrial threads and sew longer between bobbin changes.
  • Safety Clutch: Equipped with a built-in safety clutch that protects the hook from damage in the event of a thread jam or needle strike.
  • High Presser Foot Lift: A 1/2" (13mm) lift allows you to easily fit bulky seams and thick material "sandwiches" under the foot.
  • Silent Servo Motor: Includes a 110V electronic Servo Motor providing 90% energy savings and total speed control—perfect for intricate corners or high-speed production.
  • Stitch Type: 301 Lockstitch
  • Max Sewing Speed: 2,000 SPM (Stitches Per Minute)
  • Max Stitch Length: 4.2 s.p.i. (6mm)
  • Cylinder Arm Diameter: 2 9/16" (65mm)
  • Cylinder Arm Length: 10 1/4" (258mm)
  • Presser Foot Lift (Manual/Knee): 5/16" (8mm) / 1/2" (13mm)
  • Needle System: 135 x 17 (DPx17)
  • Hook Type: Large Vertical Axis Rotary Hook
  • Lubrication: Manual Oiling
  • Work Space: 10" (254mm)

The 287RB-2 is a versatile workhorse for heavy-duty tubular manufacturing:

  • Automotive Upholstery: Creating precision seams on seats, headrests, and dashboards.
  • Leather Goods: Handbags, purses, wallets, and briefcase assembly.
  • Luggage & Bags: Attaching handles, gussets, and circular bottoms on duffel bags.
  • Furniture: Sewing curved upholstery sections on armchairs and sofas.
  • Outdoor Gear: Repairing tents, awnings, and heavy-duty canvas covers.

JUKI DDL-8700 FAQs

What kind of needles do you use in the DDL-8700?

The needles with your JUKI are the Organ DBx1, available on our website. This machine uses size 16×257, size 8 through 20 or 16×97. The 8700 can also use standard needles, sizes 9 through 21, universal or fabric-specific needles such as knit.

Where does the machine oil go?

A pan directly underneath the machine supplies oil to the machine with a cotton wick. Lift the machine up and over to access the oil tank while on the table. You must keep the machine’s oil level consistently at the «high» mark, either by adding more oil or draining it and refilling it as needed. If the oil pump can’t get the oil into the machine, it can cause serious problems later.

What kind of oil does this machine require?

You need a specific type, like motor oil in your car, to keep this machine running. The DDL-8700 requires JUKI New Defrix Oil No.1, equivalent to ISO VG7.

What size table can I get with this machine?

Our table has legs and is 22"w x 47"l. It includes a knee and foot pedals and a left-hand drawer for accessories.

Does the DDL 8700 make buttonholes?

No. The 8700 only does straight stitching, with a horizontal bar on the right side for a reverse stitch.

THE ADVANTAGES OF A SERVO MOTOR

THE ADVANTAGES OF A SERVO MOTOR

Because of the Servo motor speed control, most users find the machine more straightforward to use. Both beginning and seasoned sewers find this feature helpful when stitching projects that don't demand high-speed stitching.
