Consew 277RFS-3

is a high-performance, single-needle lockstitch machine designed for the most intricate heavy-duty sewing. Its standout feature is the narrow cylinder arm, which allows for a significantly smaller turning radius and better access to tight curves than standard machines. Combining Compound Feed (Triple Feed) with alternating presser feet, the 277RFS-3 ensures that even the most difficult-to-reach seams on footwear, bags, and leather accessories are stitched with absolute precision and no material shifting.

Why Choose the 277RFS-3?

When a standard 2.5-inch cylinder arm is too large to fit inside your project, the 277RFS-3 is the solution. Its 46mm narrow arm provides the necessary clearance for fine leathercraft and specialized footwear production while maintaining the same heavy-duty "walking foot" power found in larger machines.

  • Narrow Cylinder Arm: Specifically engineered for small openings, narrow sleeves, and tight curves where standard cylinder arms are too bulky.
  • Compound Feed (Triple Feed): Synchronized needle, feed dog, and walking foot movement provides a powerful, non-slip feed for leather, vinyl, and heavy fabrics.
  • Alternating Presser Feet: Effortlessly "climbs" over thick cross-seams and varying material thicknesses without stitch length variation.
  • Vertical Axis Large Hook: Equipped with a large capacity hook and bobbin to accommodate industrial-grade threads and reduce downtime.
  • Safety Clutch: Integrated safety mechanism automatically disengages the hook to prevent damage in the event of a thread jam.
  • Silent Servo Motor: Includes a 110V electronic Servo Motor, offering 90% energy savings and "stitch-by-stitch" speed control for precision work.
  • Stitch Type: 301 Lockstitch
  • Max Sewing Speed: 2,000 SPM
  • Max Stitch Length: 4.2 s.p.i. (6mm)
  • Cylinder Arm Diameter: 1 13/16" (46mm)
  • Cylinder Arm Length: 10 1/4" (258mm)
  • Presser Foot Lift: 5/16" (8mm) by hand / 1/2" (13mm) by knee
  • Needle System: 135 x 17 (DPx17)
  • Hook Type: Vertical Axis Large Rotary Hook
  • Lubrication: Manual Oiling
  • Work Space: 10" (254mm)

The 277RFS-3 excels in manufacturing "small-scale" heavy-duty items:

  • Footwear: Closing seams and attaching decorative elements on shoes and boots.
  • Small Leather Goods: Purses, wallets, watch straps, and phone holsters.
  • Upholstery: Trimming and finishing curved sections of automotive interiors and furniture.
  • Bags & Luggage: Attaching zippers and handles to tight gussets and circular panels.
  • Sports Equipment: Sewing gloves, pads, and protective gear with complex shapes.

JUKI DDL-8700 FAQs

What kind of needles do you use in the DDL-8700?

The needles with your JUKI are the Organ DBx1, available on our website. This machine uses size 16×257, size 8 through 20 or 16×97. The 8700 can also use standard needles, sizes 9 through 21, universal or fabric-specific needles such as knit.

Where does the machine oil go?

A pan directly underneath the machine supplies oil to the machine with a cotton wick. Lift the machine up and over to access the oil tank while on the table. You must keep the machine’s oil level consistently at the «high» mark, either by adding more oil or draining it and refilling it as needed. If the oil pump can’t get the oil into the machine, it can cause serious problems later.

What kind of oil does this machine require?

You need a specific type, like motor oil in your car, to keep this machine running. The DDL-8700 requires JUKI New Defrix Oil No.1, equivalent to ISO VG7.

What size table can I get with this machine?

Our table has legs and is 22"w x 47"l. It includes a knee and foot pedals and a left-hand drawer for accessories.

Does the DDL 8700 make buttonholes?

No. The 8700 only does straight stitching, with a horizontal bar on the right side for a reverse stitch.

THE ADVANTAGES OF A SERVO MOTOR

THE ADVANTAGES OF A SERVO MOTOR

Because of the Servo motor speed control, most users find the machine more straightforward to use. Both beginning and seasoned sewers find this feature helpful when stitching projects that don't demand high-speed stitching.
