Featuring a massive 25-inch horizontal workspace, this machine is built on the foundation of the world-renowned 206RB series. It utilizes a Triple Feed (Compound Feed) system to ensure perfectly synchronized feeding of the heaviest leathers, canvases, and multi-layered synthetics without slippage or fabric shifting. 

  • Massive 25" Workspace: The extended arm provides 635mm of clearance to the right of the needle, perfect for maneuvering bulky materials like sails, tents, and truck covers. 
  • Triple Feed (Compound Feed): Synchronized action of the drop feed, needle feed, and alternating (walking) presser feet ensures uniform stitch length on multiple layers and prevents material "creeping." 
  • Large Vertical-Axis Hook: Equipped with a high-capacity bobbin system that allows for longer sewing cycles with thicker threads, significantly reducing downtime for bobbin changes. 
  • Safety Clutch Mechanism: Protects the internal timing and gears by automatically disengaging the hooks in the event of a thread jam or needle strike.

What kind of needles do you use in the DDL-8700?

The needles with your JUKI are the Organ DBx1, available on our website. This machine uses size 16×257, size 8 through 20 or 16×97. The 8700 can also use standard needles, sizes 9 through 21, universal or fabric-specific needles such as knit.

Where does the machine oil go?

A pan directly underneath the machine supplies oil to the machine with a cotton wick. Lift the machine up and over to access the oil tank while on the table. You must keep the machine’s oil level consistently at the «high» mark, either by adding more oil or draining it and refilling it as needed. If the oil pump can’t get the oil into the machine, it can cause serious problems later.

What kind of oil does this machine require?

You need a specific type, like motor oil in your car, to keep this machine running. The DDL-8700 requires JUKI New Defrix Oil No.1, equivalent to ISO VG7.

What size table can I get with this machine?

Our table has legs and is 22"w x 47"l. It includes a knee and foot pedals and a left-hand drawer for accessories.

Does the DDL 8700 make buttonholes?

No. The 8700 only does straight stitching, with a horizontal bar on the right side for a reverse stitch.
