Consew 2040-DSM

is an extra heavy-duty powerhouse designed specifically for ornamental and structural sewing on bulky materials. This "Decorative Stitch Machine" (DSM) is built with an "Adler" style casting, providing the stability required for thick thread applications in the automotive, marine, and furniture industries.

What sets this machine apart is its interchangeable cam system, which allows the operator to switch between single and double-needle decorative patterns effortlessly. Whether you are adding premium diamond-stitch details to luxury car seats or reinforcing thick canvas bags, the 2040-DSM delivers massive piercing power with refined aesthetic results.

  • 14 Decorative Stitch Patterns: Comes standard with 7 interchangeable cams, allowing for up to 14 different ornamental stitch designs (using single or double needles).
  • Single & Double Needle Versatility: Easily configured as a high-strength single-needle lockstitch or a parallel double-needle machine for symmetrical decorative rows.
  • Large Oscillating Shuttle: Engineered to handle extremely thick thread (up to Tex 270 or higher) and massive material stacks without compromising stitch tension.
  • Superior Foot Clearance: A massive 20mm (13/16") presser foot lift accommodates the thickest leather hides, foam-backed upholstery, and multi-layered canvas.
  • Three-Row Drop Feed: Features a high-traction three-row feeder that ensures consistent material movement, even on "sticky" materials like vinyl or treated synthetics.
  • Energy-Efficient Servo Motor: The included 110V Servo Motor provides 90% energy savings compared to clutch motors and allows for the slow, precise control necessary for intricate decorative patterns.
  • Heavy-Duty Construction: Built for industrial longevity with all-metal internal gears and a robust flat-bed design.

JUKI DDL-8700 FAQs

What kind of needles do you use in the DDL-8700?

The needles with your JUKI are the Organ DBx1, available on our website. This machine uses size 16×257, size 8 through 20 or 16×97. The 8700 can also use standard needles, sizes 9 through 21, universal or fabric-specific needles such as knit.

Where does the machine oil go?

A pan directly underneath the machine supplies oil to the machine with a cotton wick. Lift the machine up and over to access the oil tank while on the table. You must keep the machine’s oil level consistently at the «high» mark, either by adding more oil or draining it and refilling it as needed. If the oil pump can’t get the oil into the machine, it can cause serious problems later.

What kind of oil does this machine require?

You need a specific type, like motor oil in your car, to keep this machine running. The DDL-8700 requires JUKI New Defrix Oil No.1, equivalent to ISO VG7.

What size table can I get with this machine?

Our table has legs and is 22"w x 47"l. It includes a knee and foot pedals and a left-hand drawer for accessories.

Does the DDL 8700 make buttonholes?

No. The 8700 only does straight stitching, with a horizontal bar on the right side for a reverse stitch.

THE ADVANTAGES OF A SERVO MOTOR

THE ADVANTAGES OF A SERVO MOTOR

Because of the Servo motor speed control, most users find the machine more straightforward to use. Both beginning and seasoned sewers find this feature helpful when stitching projects that don't demand high-speed stitching.
